Welcome back to Rusty Gulch! You look a bit parched there, pardner. Reckon a six-day walk across the post-apocalyptic wasteland will do that to you. Why don’t you sit a spell, and let me fill your eyes with the last batch of Rusty Gulch characters… the Ugly.
Buck, the Goon
Most folks who’ve seen Buck agree that he’s got to be a mutant. No natural man can grow so tall, so wide, and so very unstoppable. (And yeah, he’s green.) Buck is slow-talking mountain with a personal code of honor that only he can understand. He’s ferociously loyal to his allies – but how he chooses his allies is a mystery to all but himself. Buck is a force of nature: he cannot be stopped, reasoned with, or even completely understood.
Wylie, the Barkeep Robot
Wylie is the ornery proprietor of the local saloon and eatery. Wylie hates having bots in his joint, since they never order anything. He’s always looking for something (no matter how legal) to sell them in place of liquor and food. He’s not too keep on humans either, but they keep him in ore, so he puts up with them for now. The only thing Wylie likes is money – which more often than not means ore – and he’s often full of schemes to separate the locals from their cash.
Next Week: So how did the world get to be like this? I’m not telling. Not yet, at least. You’ll have to come back next week, when DarrellHardy.com presents an overview of the history of Rusty Gulch.
