After Space City Con and Gen Con, you might think I’d be done running games at conventions for a while, but you’d be wrong. Apparently I have a problem, and can’t go more than two weeks without packing my bags full of RPG books and heading for another gamer gathering.
This past weekend, the gathering in question was Tacticon, one of the biggest gaming cons in Denver and possibly the biggest conclave of Savage Worlds players this side of the Mississippi. In the savage spirit of the event, I ran a couple sessions of Karthador. The games were a blast. Both exceeded their official limit of six players (seven in the first session and eight in the second), and for many of the players, this was their second or even third time in the world. These games also featured several firsts for Karthador:
- First time I’ve run a game focusing on Arcona, the frozen wastelands of Karthador.
- First time a player has shared her narcotic smoke-stick with a princess, who enjoyed the experience.
- First time a player character has landed in a vat of soup.
- First time a player has tried to intimidate the captain of pirate airship through Morse code.
Tacticon is always a good time, and this year was no exception. But now I’m getting anxious. It’s already been a couple days since my last con, and there are no new ones on my horizon. I’m starting to get the shakes.
I… I might have a problem.
