I’m pleased to announce that Steel Dragons, the digital tabletop game I’m designing for QuickCharge Games, has been unveiled! It’s an adventure board game in the tradition of Runebound and Talisman, but with cooperative elements that nudge the tradition-needle into Arkham Horror territory.
Yes, it’s a board game. And yes, it’s strictly digital. Confused? Read all about it on the QuickCharge announcement post, where I explain it much more eloquently.
My involvement in the project started about two years ago, when I met veteran video game programmer Tim Mensch at a local game developer meet-up.
“So you’ve made board games,” he said. “I want to make board games. But ones you play on your tablet — and your phone — at the same time.”
My mind was blown. And when Tim asked if I’d be willing to help design one of these games, I jumped at the chance. What he was describing was nothing short of a whole new category of board games, and I wanted in on the ground floor.
Many months and game-design-montages later, we’re finally ready to reveal the existence of Steel Dragons to the world. Now it’s your chance to get in on the ground floor and become part of something that could be truly revolutionary. Something with steampunk ninjas. Tell your friends. Join the mailing list. Or like QuickCharge games on Facebook for updates.
And hang on. Because it’s going to be wild ride.
