Did you hear? There was a terrible accident a few miles from our house last night: a major bridge collapsed during rush our, dumping dozens of vehicles into the river. Seven confirmed dead last night, 60 injured, and the death toll expected to rise today.
But we’re okay.
My wife and I went out to a movie last night, leaving the girls with a sitter. When we returned, the sitter told us about the bridge collapse… and informed us that friends and relatives from around the state had been calling all night to make sure we weren’t on the bridge when it went.
All we can do is pray for the survivors and the family of those who didn’t make it. That, and appreciate one more reason to be grateful I don’t commute.
